Deep and real community involvement are values that we at Civic Champs believe are vital for a society to prosper. This month marks the beginning of a new chapter in our nation’s history with both a new year and a new president. We feel that civic participation and justice is extremely important during this time. We want our community to stay engaged through organizations who work toward a society that is more just and equitable. Below is a list of organizations executing critical work to help maintain the health of our democracy. Be sure to read up on their missions, support them if you can, and find out how to get involved in your local community.

Jefferson Center

The Jefferson Center focuses on engaging Americans in current public issues through their nonpartisan, nonprofit work. Their mission is to strengthen democracy by advancing informed, citizen-developed solutions that will shape their lives.

Brennan Center for Justice

The Brennan Center for Justice is a nonpartisan law and policy institute striving to uphold the values of democracy. Their mission is to build an America that is equal, just, and free for all.

Issue One

The nonpartisan, nonprofit organization Issue One is striving to achieve political reform, promote transparency and reinvigorate Congress to strengthen democracy. Their cross partisan approach allows them to advocate for all.

Demos

Demos, meaning “the people”, is working to create a more inclusive and multiracial democracy. They are committed to finding long-term solutions for longstanding inequities in the United States

Cities of Service

Cities of Service believes that to build stronger cities, local governments and citizens need to work together. They feel that each person, as an integral part of the community, has the ability to identify and solve critical public problems.

Fair Fight Action

Fair Fight brings awareness to the public on election reform, advocates for election reform at all levels, and engages in other voter education programs and communications. Their efforts are particular to Georgia but they also take action nationally.

Big Tent Nation

Big Tent Nation, a nonpartisan, nonprofit initiative, is committed to transforming the way individual citizens, business and government communicate and collaborate on issues critical to broad-based national prosperity.
