Civic Champs was founded as a Benefit Corporation in early 2019. As a Benefit Corporation, we are driven by our desire to ensure the growth of the company is coupled with an increase in social impact and benefit to our communities.

In 2022, Civic Champs was formally certified as a Benefit Corporation by BLab and launched several new initiatives. We held our first fundraiser for nonprofits, supported the war effort in Ukraine, and were honored by BLab as a top 5% Benefit Corporation for Governance.

What is a Benefit Corporation?

A benefit corporation is a legal tool to create a solid foundation for long term mission alignment and value creation. It protects company missions through capital raises and leadership changes.

As a Benefit Corporation, Civic Champs places social and environmental values on an equal footing with profits. Based on the B Impact assessment, Civic Champs earned an overall score of 86.3. The median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment is currently 50.9.
