Sarah King Creates

With her background in Social Work, Sarah King served over 18 years in nonprofit organizations supporting at-risk youth, adults transitioning out of poverty, and families with seriously ill children.  She has trained and supported thousands of adults while volunteering in their communities and continues to equip nonprofit professionals with technology tools and best practices for sustainable success.    

As a Speaker and Healing Arts Practitioner, Sarah King empowers helping professionals to go from overwhelmed to well-being through movement, mindfulness, and discovering and engaging their creativity.

Sarah also loves being in and near water and is an adult Swim Instructor.  She introduces others to the mental health benefits of swimming through her Water & Well-Being Swimming Retreats.

Sarah rests and recharges through all things DIY, time in nature, sand volleyball, and spending time with her friends, family, and rambunctious dog, Colby Jack, and loves anything around eating!

Description:

In this interactive creative workshop, participants will get the tools and guidance to complete artistic prompts that combine simple drawing techniques with writing to rest their mind, release stress, and renew their energy and vision. Through engaging in creativity, participants experience community-building, self-connection and expression, emotional processing, and reducing cognitive overload, both at the moment and as a tool for future use. No prior visual art or creative writing experience is needed to experience the benefits of this workshop.  

Learning Objectives – After attending the “Creative Rest” workshop, participants will leave with:

- Decreased stress and anxiety levels

- Increased sense of human-centered connection with themselves and others

- Actionable knowledge of creative tools and practices for ongoing use designed to foster reflection and express emotions, which help recover from and reduce risk of burnout
